-
Two mirror-topped plateaux with incurved sides and canted corners, with a border of silver-gilt anthemions and rosette scrolls; the sides embossed with acanthus scrolls, lions and winged herms. Each plateau is accompanied by corner mounts, each cast with a Bacchanalian group, above a plate engraved with the Prince of Wales' feathers.
Provenance
Commissioned by George IV, when Prince Regent, probably in 1813, together with a large circular plateau (RCIN 51107) and another shaped plateau (RCIN 51106), for £2155 5s 0d. The mounts for these plateaux appear to be interchangeable.
