A print depicting a panoramic view of massed troops with officers on horseback at Sevastopol. Lettered below with identifications of the figures, the details of the artists, the title and publication details.
This print reproduces a history painting documenting the Crimean war by Thomas Barker of 1856, which used a series of portrait photographs taken by Roger Fenton in 1855 in both the Crimea and London. Fenton was sent to the Crimea by the publishers Thomas Agnew and Sons, who then published this print after the painting. At least 50 individual photographs by Fenton have been copied and incorporated into Barker's work.Provenance
