Pair of bronze statues of rearing horses, each with a classical male attendent wearing drapery around his waist and holding the reins in his hands. Resting on a plain rectangular bronze base set in an ebonised wooden stand. The first horse facing right, the second facing left.
Provenance
Purchased from the dealer Pierre-Joseph-Ignace Lafontaine, March 1813 (Jutsham I, p. 251) and placed in the Circular Room, Carlton House. Sent to Windsor Castle in December 1828 (Jutsham II, p. 193). -
