Signed on the obverse in black paint: Rochard P xt. / 1815 and inscribed on the reverse of the frame: This miniature by Rochard / signed by him and dated 1815 / was given by the Duke / of Wellington himself to Mlle de Condé (afterwards / Comtesse de Chaumont […]) / at Brussels a few days / before Waterloo. She prized / it very much and dying / in 1879 left it to me in / token of her affection for my / family with whom she was / a refugee after the Revolution / She was very old when she died / Hubert E.H.
