Photograph of the Drawing Room of Villa Leader, in Cannes. In the centre of the room, in the foreground, stands a croquet table with balls and sticks resting on it. In the background are various chairs and a table with books on. The back room has a mirror with a clock in front of it. The entrance to the room is via a double door in the corner.
The politician Sir John Temple-Leader (1810-1903) was one of the first to build a villa in Cannes at the end of the 1840's which led to the establishment of Cannes as a resort patronised by English aristocratic circles. An area of the city is still known as the Quartier des Anglais.Provenance
