Photograph of Whitehall showing a large decorated 'triumphal' arch created for the Coronation of King Edward VII, with 'Canada Kitchener Hero in War and Peace' emblazoned at the top. Large reproductions of King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra are fixed within the towers. A horse-drawn open-top ominbus driving along the road (advertising Colman Mustard), is about to go under the arch; other carriages and horses on the road. The slogan refers to General Herbert Kitchener, Commander of British forces in South Africa during the 2nd Anglo-Boer War and was made Viscount Kitchener of Khartoum on 28th July 1902. The Canadian city of Berlin was renamed Kitchener in 1916.
