Photograph of a full length group portrait that includes Ernst Ludwig, the Hereditary Grand Duke of Hesse (); Prince Louis of Battenberg (1854-1921); Grand Duchess Elizabeth of Russia (1864-1918); Victoria, Princess Louis of Battenberg (1863-1950); Princess Alice of Hesse (1872-94), later Alexandra Feodorovna of Russia; Princess Irene of Hesse (1866-1953); Princess Alice (1885-1969), later Princess Andrew of Greece; Grand Duke Sergei of Russia (1857-1905) and Grand Duke Ludwig IV of Hesse (1837-92). The photograph was taken in the garden of the Neues Palais Darmstadt. Princess Alice, Princess Irene and Grand Duke of Hesse, Prince and Princess Louis of Battenburg and daughter Alice, Grand Duchess Elizabeth and Grand Duke Serge of Russia.
