Photograph of a full length sculpture of Prince Albert (1819-61), seen in three-quarters view. Prince Albert wears robes and holds a document in his left hand. The sculpture is shown on a tall plinth, set on a pedestal. The plinth is inscribed with Prince Albert's words: `THE STUDY OF THE LAWS/BY WHICH THE ALMIGHTY GOVERNS THE UNIVERSE/IS OUR BOUNDEN DUTY'. Beneath this inscription is a second inscription reading: `ALBERT/PRINCE CONSORT/1862'.
The statue was intended for display in Leeds.Provenance
