Photograph of an oval cameo depicting the bust of a Roman emperor in profile, facing right. He is clean-shaven, with short curly hair. There is a band around his head which ties at the back. He wears a cuirass, a piece of armour consisting of a breastplate and back plate fastened together. On the front of the cuirass is a Medusa head.
The cameo is now held by the Victoria and Albert Museum.Provenance
Commissioned by Henry Cole. Later acquired by Queen Victoria and Prince Albert
