Photograph of a silver flacon. The flacon has a globular body formed of large, plain drop-shaped segments, surrounded by chased leaf designs. The design continues half way up the slender neck of the flacon. The bottle has a shaped rim and a shaped stopper attached to the neck by a chain.
The object was specifically made to illustrate workmanship and design and was made for the 1851 Great Exhibition.Provenance
Commissioned by Henry Cole. Later acquired by Queen Victoria and Prince Albert
