A street in Cairo 24 Mar 1862
Albumen print, mounted on card | 23.8 x 28.8 cm (image) | RCIN 2700904

This photograph is meant to represent a ‘typical’ street in the city centre. There are some shops at ground level, and the floors above are residential. The windows are all screened to prevent excessive sunshine and dust entering the buildings, but the narrow patterns in the screens allow light to filter inside. The photograph is signed, captioned and dated in the negative, 'F Bedford Cairo'. The number in the Day & Son series is 3.
