Photograph of the Mercat or market cross in the town of Inveraray. A man wearing a Tam O' Shanter hat is seated in right side profile at the base of the cross. Behind the man is a woman with two wooden buckets who leans against a metal bollard. In the background is a view towards Inveraray Castle and Duniquoich mountain. Wilson produced variations of this view featuring the cross both with and without groups of men, women and children posed around the base of the cross. The cross itself was originally a funereal monument and is 15th century in origin.
