-
Photograph of a male Inuit standing and carrying a Kyack in his right hand. In his left hand, he holds a paddle. On the back of the Kyack is a seal skin bladder.
The photograph gives the impression that the Kyack is being held aloft by the male subject, however, the boulder that the back of the Kyack is supported on and that can be seen on the original collodion negative, has been masked out.Provenance
Presented to Queen Victoria and Prince Albert by Captain Edward Augustus Inglefield in 1854
