Major General Granville George Algernon Egerton served with the Seaforth Highlanders during the Anglo-Egyptian War and went on to have a military career which extended beyond the First World War.
This photograph comes from an album from Queen Victoria’s collection titled 'AFGHANISTAN AND EGYPT PORTRAITS 1879 AND 1882' (RCIN 2501413). The album contains photographs of British soldiers who served in the Second Anglo-Afghan War (1878-80) and Anglo-Egyptian War (1882).
