Photograph of the arsenal from the French batteries. There is a grassy hillside in the foreground with Sevastopol and its harbour just visible behind to the right. The Siege of Sevastopol lasted eleven months, with the allied British, French and Turkish forces eventually capturing the city on the 8th September 1855.
