Photograph of a street in Sevastopol after the fall of the city. Derelict and dilapidated buildings line both sides of the street, many with piles of rubble in front of them. Small bare trees line the pavement and there is a horse and cart half way down the road. There are hills in the distance. After an eleven month siege the city of Sevastopol was captured by the allied British, French and Turkish forces on the 8th September 1855. The city was badly damaged during the siege, and many of the buildings lay in ruins.
