Photograph of a church service in the camp of the Guards during the Crimean War. The clergyman, wearing white robes, stands in a clearing with three drums stacked in front of him. The Guards are arranged in a semi-circle around him, all wearing military uniform and bearskin hats. A number of the soldiers have a drum on the ground in front of them. Behind the group are the tents and wooden huts of the camp. The troops engaged in the Siege of Sevastopol camped in the countryside surrounding the town.
