Lochnagar is also know as Beinn Chiochan and is a mountain in the Grampians of Scotland located within the Balmoral estate. The writings of Sir Walter Scott attracted visitors from England, eager to see the places mentioned in his novels. Wilson's friend George Walker, who accompanied him on many of his photographic excursions, recalls how on entering the Highlands during one such trip, Lochnagar came into view 'which we were gravely informed by an English traveller, was mentioned by Sir Walter Scott or somebody.'
