Photograph of the river side at Greenwich with the River Thames on the right. A steam boat departs, carrying passengers. People either walk or sit on the side of the river, including two people in the foreground holding parasols. In the background can be seen a large sailing ship and numerous other ship masts in the distance. This photograph was reviewed in the Photographic News in March 1863.
This photograph is a later carbon copy which is a process that is less susceptible to light damage, unlike the original albumen photograph that was prone to fading over time.Provenance
From an album of photographs collected and arranged by Albert, Prince Consort, between 1860 and 1861
