Photograph of a view out to sea with tall cliffs in the foreground and an area of grass strewn with rocks in the foreground.
The Quiraing is situated on the Trotternish, the northern peninsula on the Isle of Skye in the Inner Hebrides of Scotland. The large cliffs found on the Trotternish were formed due to landslips millions of years ago. Some of the pinnacles are still fluid today. Wilson probably took this photograph during his tour of the western isles of Scotland in 1860 or 1861.Provenance
From an album of photographs collected and arranged by Albert, Prince Consort, between 1860 and 1861
