Photograph of a view of the Custom House, Dublin, taken from the docks. There is a sailing ship moored in the middle ground, on the left. In the foreground, a man is seated on the edge of stone quay, facing away from the camera. He wears dark colour clothing and a dark colour hat.
A carbon copy is adhered on top of the original albumen print. Carbon prints are more stable compared to albumen prints, the latter prone to fading. Carbon copies were therefore created for posterity.
