-
Photograph of the Garr-Valt (or Garbh Allt) waterfall near Braemar. Large boulders dominate the foreground with trees on the right.
This photograph is deliberately framed to include large boulders in the foreground. By adding foreground interest, a sense of depth is created which serves to enhance the 3 dimensional effect when viewed through a stereoscope. This photograph was reviewed in the British Journal of Photography on the 15th January 1860 and was probably taken in the autumn of 1859.Provenance
From an album of photographs collected and arranged by Albert, Prince Consort between 1860 and 1861
