A life-size bronze portrait bust of the Roman Emperor Vespasian, wearing armour. The gilt bronze laurel wreath at the temples and gilt bronze draperies were separately cast and applied.
Provenance
Together with a bronze of Emperor Augustus (RCIN 2139), this bust was bought by Lord Yarmouth in Paris and received form Chatham Tender on 9 January 1818 (Jutsham Receipts II 25/28); it was subsequently placed in Carlton House. Sent to Windsor Castle on 2nd December 1828.
