Photograph of the Ballroom, Buckingham Palace, looking towards the great organ, originally supplied in 1817 for the Music Room at Brighton Pavillion. The room was designed by Sir James Pennethorne, and decorated by Ludwig Gruner and Nicola Consoni, under Prince Albert's direction. The wall are divided by a row of windows and 'Raphaelesque' panels and large silk lining panels, below which are a set of tiered banquettes. There is a parquet floor.
The room was completely redesigned in 1907 under the direction of Edward VII, in the fashionable beaux-arts Louis XVI manner, with oeil-de-boeuf windows and painted cream and gold. -
