Glass plate negative of a full length portrait of Lord Alfred Paget (1816-88) sitting on a wooden garden bench. The sitter faces towards the camera and rest his arm on the back of the bench. He wears a suit, a cloak and a top hat, while an open book has been placed beside him on the bench. The photograph was possibly taken in Windsor Castle.
Paget was Chief Equerry and Clerk-Marshal for most of the period 1846-1874, and Clerk Marshal to 1888.
The glass plate negative has been photographed showing the coated side and therefore the image appears laterally reversed. Prints from this negative do not seem to exist in the Collection.Provenance
