Glass plate negative of a full-length portrait of John Grant (1842-82) standing. He faces towards the camera and looks down at an unidentified dog who sits by his feet. Besides him on the ground lies Waldmann, a daschund. Grant holds the dogs' leads and leans against a wall directly behind him. Photograph taken at Balmoral.
The glass plate negative has been photographed showing the coated side and therefore the image appears laterally reversed. A print from this negative exists in the Collection, RCIN 2105199.Provenance
