A Private of the Royal Horse Guards Blue Mar 1855
-
6.5" x 4 ¾" glass plate negative showing a member of the Royal Horse Guards, known as 'The Blues', facing front and holding a rifle almost horizontally. He stands on a path cutting through flat grassy terrain with a large bare tree in the middle ground and a fence running along one side of the path; other bare trees in the background.
The glass plate negative has been photographed showing the coated side and therefore the image appears laterally reversed. Prints from this negative exist in the Collection (e.g. RCIN 2800727).Provenance
