Photograph of a painting depicting the Virgin Mary, the Christ Child, St John the Baptist and two figure. The painting is unfinished and the outline of two further figures can be seen on the left side.
At the time of the photograph, the painting was in the collection of Henry Du Pré Labouchère (1831-1912). The painting is attributed to Michelangelo (1475-1564) and was first shown at the Manchester Exhibition in 1857. Consequently, the work is commonly known as 'The Manchester Madonna'. The painting is now held by the National Gallery, London.Provenance
