Photograph of a painting of a portrait of a young man by the Italian artist Sandro Botticelli (c.1445-1510). The man is depicted in a head and shoulder length portrait, gazing at the viewer. He wears a cap and jacket with string fasteners. The painting is photographed in its frame. A piece of paper with the number '38' written on it is attached to the frame, in the lower left corner.
At the time of the photograph, the painting was attributed to Masaccio (1401-28) and was in the collection of Lord Northwick (1770-1859). The painting is now held by the National Gallery, London.Provenance
