Sevres soft paste porcelain pair of vases - the covers are missing. Bleu nouveau ground with gilded decoration, beaded rims, circular stems and feet bound by laurel leaves. Both with oval painted reserves with illustrations of the goddesses Diana and Venus; the two reverse reserves decorated with posies of flowers.
Provenance
Recorded in 1826 in the Crimson Drawing Room, Carlton House: ‘No.106. A pair of small blue and gold Seve Porcelain Vases, beaded tops, rims, handles and stems on wreathed bases, painted in front with a Venus and a Diana reclining at the backs fruit and flowers, 9 ½ In. high’. They joined the other three vases of the same design to form a five piece garniture.
