I music manuscript, composed and written out by Prince Albert. This work, composed in 1845 and scored for full chorus and soloists, is one of his largest compositions. Many of his vocal works set poems by others, particularly by his brother Ernst, but Invocazione was a setting of a poem by Albert himself. The piece was played at the laying of the foundation stone of the Royal Albert Hall, 20 May 1867, as recorded by Queen Victoria in her journal: dearest Albert's composition the "Invocazione all'Armonia" was performed under the direction of Costa ... How I thought of dearest Albert's feeling so shy about ever having this composition performed, which I had helped in writing down for him, & singing the solos for him.
