Bound in black goatskin with blind and gold tooling, gilt and gauffered edges, and red silk doublures. One of the few books that the Prince Regent possessed that had been deliberately bound in black, the colour of mourning. The subject of the book, Princess Charlotte, the Prince’s only child and heir, had died in childbirth on 6 November 1817.
