Birth of Prince Philip

Prince Philip was born at Mon Repos on the island of Corfu. The villa had belonged to King George I of Greece, and was left to Prince Philip’s parents on the King’s death in 1913. The first photograph is the first ever taken of Prince Philip, and shows him in his mother’s arms at the villa. The second photograph shows the villa in 1887.
