Bartolozzi and Cipriani

The engraver Francesco Bartolozzi and painter Giovanni Battista Cipriani were lifelong friends: both were born and trained in Florence and moved to London in the years around 1760. These charming drawings, no doubt done on the same day, testify to the affectionate relationship between the two artists, Cipriani engrossed in the act of painting, Bartolozzi asleep in a chair.
