The Palace of Holyroodhouse has been decorated for Christmas with festive garlands and sparkling lights.  Visitors to The Queen's official Scottish residence will see a 15ft Christmas tree draped in glittering silver and white decorations in the Palace's Great Gallery.

In the Royal Dining Room nearby, the table is laid with pieces from a silver service presented to George V and Queen Mary in 1935 to mark their Silver Jubilee and decorated with wreaths, flowers and spires of faux candied sugared fruits.

Families visiting the Palace of Holyroodhouse on Saturday, 15 December can enjoy a Christmas Festival Day, including a Christmas present trail, a family ceilidh, decoration-making workshops, and storytelling around the fireplace in the Palace's Great Gallery.

Christmas at the Palace of Holyroodhouse is from 7 December - 6 January 2019
