This magnificent commode was almost certainly designed under the guidance of French dealer-decorator Dominique Daguerre (d. 1796), but made by the leading Parisian cabinet-maker, Adam Weisweiler. The cabinet now incorporates a circular Sèvres porcelain plaque depicting flowers; this may have replaced a rectangular one depicting the Continence of Scipio. It is illustrative of the Prince Regent’s constant redesigning and redecoration of his apartments at Carlton House.
